Volunteer Profile:

Volunteers in Education Demographics

The Volunteers in Education program links community volunteers with students and teachers in schools across the community. On average, over 1,500 retirees, university students, new Canadians and others volunteer approximately 133,000 hours in local schools—a dollar value of over 1.2 million dollars. OCRI recruits, screens and trains volunteers, then matches them to schools that need their specific talents.

Volunteers in Education Classification

  • The mission of OttawaReads and LectureOttawa cannot be accomplished without the collaboration, alliance and support of like-minded, well-respected corporations. OCRI focuses on building healthy and lasting corporate relationships based on mutual values, strategic objectives and a shared vision. Aligning your employees with any of the Volunteers in Education Programs will raise your corporate profile, help build your reputation for corporate social responsibility and, most importantly, help Ottawa’s children improve their literacy and mathematical skills.
